Northern New Jersey Chapter

The Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Victorian Society in America was chartered in 1976 to promote the enjoyment, understanding, and preservation of our 19th Century heritage.  This Chapter is one of many in the country, with the national headquarters in Haddonfield, NJ.

Victorian Lovers

The Victorian Society brings together lovers of Victorian architecture, decorative arts, painting, music, sculpture, literature, history, gardening and craftsmanship.  Members learn more about 19th Century people and places, customs and culture through monthly programs of lectures and guest speakers.

Field trips to restorations, museums, and private homes offer an opportunity to visit the actual settings of the period.  Each year special events are planned for members and their guests.  Walking tours, musical programs and holiday parties are created around Victorian themes.

Community Support

The chapter also lends its support to the community, encouraging the protection and preservation of all things Victorian in the Northern New Jersey area by presenting annual preservation programs in the spring.  It also encourages scholarly study of the Victorian period by providing a yearly scholarship to the Victorian Society summer school in Newport RI, Chicago IL, and London, England.

Monthly Meetings

The NNJ Chapter meets monthly from September to June, usually on the third Monday of the month.

You are invited to become a member.
